Thrifted, Vintage Tablecloth

Don't you just love re-purposed, thrifted items?!  There's such a satisfying feeling when you can re-use old curtains, for example, and repurpose them for something totally different...like pillow covers, drawstring bags, placemats or fabric bowls!

So ever since my mom introduced me to Selina Lake and her books, I was definitely inspired to pursue that "handmade" feel with our home decor.  Whether it be vintage hankies that I tied together as a banner along our mantel, pretty trim sewn to pillows with floral fabric, or a quilt draped over our couch (all of these ideas found in this blog post)....Selina Lake has definitely inspired me to put my own stamp on things when it comes to decorating our home!

So, all that to say is that I have this new-to-me thrifted tablecloth using something very unexpected...a vintage bed sheet (cleaned, of course)!  It has all the pretty, shabby chic colors that I love:  yellows, pinks, greens and blues.  And since all the edges are already trimmed out, I didn't have to do any sewing!  Perfect!  And I bought it at a seriously ridiculous price....Only 50 cents!  BINGO!

My plan is to eventually either sew or glue some fun pom-pom trim to the edges of the fabric, but for now, it sits softly on our table, without any details added, and it looks beautiful!  Since the sheet is fairly large (a full size, I think?), I tied the ends together so it doesn't hang so low to the floor.

Once it's served its purpose as a tablecloth, I'll eventually cut it up and make a set of fun pillow cases, or cafe curtains, or a banner out of it.  Either way, this fabric is so cheerful -- just the way it is!  Now to find more vintage sheets!

By the way, did I mention that there are 36 hot pink roses in that milk glass vase (the centerpiece)?  Yep.  Thirty-six prickly, yet gorgeous, roses.

I got a deal on them.  At half-off per dozen, I couldn't pass them up.  Always check your grocery store's floral shop for clearance flowers.  You never know what you'll find!  But just don't do it at MY local stores.  You know who you are!  Lol!

So what do you think about my vintage, flat sheet as a tablecloth?  Have you ever re-purposed bed sheets into something else?  I'd love to hear about it!  Comment below, or stop by and say hey on Pinterest, Instagram, TwitterHomeTalk and Facebook.  I always love to hear from my sweet readers!
