DIY, Faux Birch-Wood Banner

Hey friends!  Don't forget to follow along with me on  Pinterest, Instagram, TwitterHomeTalk and Facebook, so you don't miss another post!

Today, I'm going to show you how to make a faux birch-wood banner.

A lightbulb went off when I was prepping for my live Facebook video with HomeTalk....I was trying to think of different ways to use moss, and I was so excited when this idea popped into my head!  ;) It's really very easy and inexpensive to make!

Let's get started!

Supplies

  • a spool of faux birch wood

  • jute twine

  • hot glue gun and glue sticks

While heating your hot glue gun on its highest setting, go ahead and figure out how large you want each pennant to be.  I only needed 3 of them, so I went ahead and eye-balled the first one.

After cutting the first banner, I used it as my template for the rest of them.  Repeat this step until you've got the desired number of pennants.

Then, before hot-gluing your pennant to the jute, go ahead and fold over the top about a 1/4."

Cut your desired amount of jute off the spool.  Keep in mind -- Don't under-cut your string!  But if you accidentally cut too little string, I'm sure you could just hot glue that part under the folded edge to cover up any mistakes.

Now that you've folded your top edges, have a little something to measure the spacing in between each pennant.  I used 2 fingers, so that I knew the spacing was even in between each pennant!

That's it!  You're all done!  See?  I told you it was easy...and quick!

Be sure to check out my thrifted, diy chalkboard that I shared.  (Click here.) It's another super-easy project, and I know you'll love it!

Thanks again for hanging out with me today!  I hope you've been inspired to make one of these banners yourself!  I'd love to hear your thoughts on this project....Comment below, or stop by and say hey on Pinterest, Instagram, HomeTalk and Facebook.  I'd love to hear from you!
