Woodsy Hot Chocolate Station for Christmas
I wanted to share with you all something that I like to do for my family every year during the Christmas season...a hot chocolate bar! We love to have yummy hot cocoa on the ready during the chilly days leading up to Christmas, and that means keeping all the necessary ingredients at our finger tips: hot chocolate mix (whether homemade or store-bought), marshmallows, straws/spoons, and crushed peppermint candies. Mmmmm! Put them in pretty containers, add a fun tray, and voila! You have yourself a handy-dandy hot chocolate station. ;)
Of course, there are so many other fun ingredients to add to your station, such as chocolate-covered spoons, chocolate or caramel syrup, crushed oreos, or chocolate chips. The list could go on and on and on, but I kept it simple. Fixing ourselves a mug of this deliciousness has been a staple in our house every day!
So, before putting this station together, I shopped my house for the supplies and then listed everything that I needed to pick up at the grocery store. I started out with the base, which is my vintage crate that I bought at the Country Living Fair this past October. And then I gathered my containers: a large, lidded glass jar from Walmart to hold the hot cocoa mix, a bell jar from Pottery Barn to hold the adorable straws, and some vintage, lidded enamelware for the marshmallows.
Next, I shopped my house for a few accessories to tie it all together. This little toy truck with the bottle brush tree and deer were perfect for the woodsy look that I was going for.
Of course, you have to have a fun chalkboard sign to let everyone know what your station is all about. That red tree is simply an ornament that I taped to the chalkboard.
And what do you think about this vintage price tag? So cute, right?!
That log is from my sweet mama. I added some fake moss on top of the log and around the edges of the enamelware to give it more of a rustic look.
With the leftover moss, I made some DIY moss chargers for our table. If you're interested, you can read all about that here.
Putting together a hot chocolate bar every year has been a fabulous treat for our little family! The kids can easily fix themselves a warm mug of hot cocoa right after school each day, and my hubby and I sneak a cup every now and then, too. ;)
