Hanging out with the Home Depot Team and Chip Wade for the New Homeowner's Day Event

Hey sweet friends!  Before we begin, I wanted to remind you to stop by and say hey on InstagramFacebook and Pinterest.   And while you're at it, let me know how you stumbled upon this little blog of mine....I always love to hear from my sweet readers!

******************************************

We welcomed this month of May with a super-fun trip to Atlanta, where I had the privilege of spending time with Home Depot and Chip Wade in honor of New Homeowners' Day (which was May 1, 2018)!  It was such a fantastic, two-day event!  Home Depot invited a few of us bloggers and other media creatives to this event, and we had a great time! Once everyone arrived to the hotel Monday afternoon, we hopped on a bus and rode together to Canoe (a fabulous restaurant in Vinings, GA).  We had delicious food and enjoyed getting to know each other.  Those attending this small gathering were fellow bloggers, editors of various magazines, and all sorts of other friends from various media outlets.

The menu at Canoe was superb.  And take a look at the dessert...popcorn ice cream sundae!  The popcorn was made using homemade cracker jacks!  Wowee!

Oh, and did I mention that I was assigned to Chip Wade's table?!  That was so cool to glean from his experience and knowledge!

After our delicious supper at Canoe on that Monday evening, the following day, we had an exciting schedule planned with some fun adventures awaiting us!  That morning, we were bussed to the Home Depot headquarters, where we enjoyed a delicious breakfast and had a private tour in Home Depot's Innovation Lab, which was so cool!  (It's not open to the public, but in this lab, scientists and engineers test a variety of products in order to receive HD's stamp of approval.) On our way to the Innovation Lab, we walked through the headquarters, and it was like a small city in there!  They had a gym, a gift shop, the museum, and even a Starbucks inside!

After the tour of the lab, we visited HD's museum, where we learned about the history of Home Depot and how they got started!

We then rode to Pinewood Studios, where we spent the rest of the afternoon.  It was at these studios that we learned all about some great products and got some hands-on experience, such as how to install flooring, how to paint walls properly, and how to use some very helpful paint tools!  We were also divided into 4 teams of 5 each and worked together styling our "blank canvas" into a beautiful space.  See pics below for details!

Here's a quick list of key products we used:

  • Lifeproof Vinyl Plank Flooring -- This flooring was super-easy to install. Normally, my hubby does all this work for me when it comes to installing flooring, but after trying my hand at it with the Lifeproof guys, I realized I could tackle this project myself!

  • BEHR – Marquee (one coat coverage) -- The paint went onto the walls so smoothly and easily! And did I mention how quickly it dried?! Such a great product!

  • Wagner – Smart Roller / Sprayer -- The Wagner products were great to test on the walls! The Smart Roller/Sprayer made painting a cinch!

  • Multiple picture frames (small, medium, large, etc.) -- My team and I loved styling our "living room." The accessories and furniture came together nicely and made a cohesive and relaxing space.

We started out with a clean slate.

I got to use this handy paint sprayer when we painted the wall for our living room.  It's now my new favorite tool for painting!

Using the sprayer was so easy, and the Behr Marquee paint holds true to its claims!  You truly only have to use ONE coat for your project!

And the pic below shows our living room in its final stage. ;)

My team was awesome!

From right to left: Anna (from Traditional Home magazine), Zoe (from Today.com) and Bob (not pictured, but from HGTV) and myself had a great time styling our "living room".

Here's a view from waaaay up top!  Crazy how high this ceiling was!

I met some new friends and got to know some current friends a little more, which was special.  Speaking of friends, my buddy Rhoda from Southern Hospitality was one of those special friends I got to know a little more during the Home Depot event, and she's such a cutie!  If you've never visited her blog, be sure to stop by and say hey!  I know you'll find so much inspiration from her DIY posts and fashion tips!  She even wrote a fun post on this event as well....Click here to read more!

We had such a great 2 days with the Home Depot team and Chip Wade!  A special thanks for the invite, and I'm looking forward to seeing Home Depot at the upcoming Haven event this summer!  (Pssst....If you've never heard of the Haven Conference for bloggers, you NEED to check it out and try to attend!  I've been for the past 4 years in a row...even when I didn't have a blog. I've had such a fab time with everyone and my sweet mama!  Click here to read more about Haven.)

Thanks again for stopping by.  I hope y'all have a great day!
